Meet Ismētra: The Groove Alchemist Behind the Decks

Ismētra’s music is a mesmerizing fusion of groovy organic downtempo up to bassy sassy minimal—the kind of sound that slips under your skin, teases the hips into motion, and invites the mind into soft, shimmering daydreams. Her sets feel like portals: sensual, earthy, mystic, and deliciously unpredictable. Somewhere between a spiritual ceremony and a sunrise flirtation on the dancefloor, Ismētra crafts sonic journeys where bass is a heartbeat and rhythm is a spell.

But this story begins long before the clubs and festivals.
It starts in Ukraine, where the native German-born wanderer, accompanied by her French crew, stumbled into the depths of the international downtempo scene. Surrounded by multicultural influences, nomadic souls, and endless night-time conversations, she began shaping her own musical universe. In 2019 she released her first productions, unveiling the DNA of what would become her signature sound: dreamy yet grounded, spiritual yet playful, soft yet delightfully cheeky.

As her artistic identity blossomed, her path led her back to Paris—straight into the heart of O’Tawa. Not simply joining a collective, Ismētra built part of its foundation. She co-created O’Tawa Innervisons Festival alongside Wakhan Project, bringing together a tribe of music lovers, visionaries, and free spirits in a celebration of sound, art, and inner exploration.

She is also the creative mind behind O’Tawa Records, shaping the label’s direction, aesthetic, and community with a warm, intuitive touch.

And her creativity doesn’t stop at the decks or the studio. When she’s not sculpting sound, Ismētra crafts spiritual collage artworks—vivid, dreamy, symbolic pieces that mirror the energy of her music. Her art has become an unmistakable signature within O’Tawa and beyond, infusing events and partnerships with her ethereal visual world.

Today, Ismētra stands as a playful force of nature: a DJ, producer, festival creator, label founder, and visual artist whose work radiates warmth, groove, mysticism, and a spark of irresistible sass.
